The social networking sites continued to perform well in November, with an average load time of 3.15 seconds and the top five sites averaging at 1.36 seconds – an impressive response time. That said, only two of the social media websites took under a second and a half to load – Facebook and LinkedIn, compared to four last month when Wayn and twitter also had load times of less than 1.5 seconds. You Tube UK also made an impressive jump this month to third place, from fifth place in October.
In terms of availability – the chances of a website loading correctly when visited – seven of the nine websites monitored had a higher than 99 percent success rate, compared to only six out of nine in October.
Particularly noteworthy this month was Facebook which featured at the top of the table for both its response time of 0.81 seconds, and availability, with a success rate of 99.92 percent. In November, Facebook has proven its ability to perform on both speed and reliability.
As social media becomes the “go-to” communication platform, its degree of influence on the online landscape is increasing. Now, not only users rely on the speediness and reliability of the social networks, but also many businesses, as social commerce is showing strong signs of growth.
