The Brighton Digital Festival (
www.brightondigitalfestival.co.uk) heralds a
month of events showcasing the city as a centre of digital
excellence. Featuring groundbreaking work from a mixture of
award winning companies and individuals, festival activities
include an animation workshop, digital film events, a portfolio
clinic for students and freelancers, and an interactive art
installation.
Jointly organised by Wired Sussex, Fabrica and Sussex Community
Internet Project (SCIP), the month-long festival is designed to
reflect every element of Brighton's digital community from
those developing generative art through to interactive designers
and technologists.
Brighton's progressive digital scene
Talking about the Digital Festival, Tony Miller, director of
cultural services at Brighton & Hove City Council commented:
"Brighton and Hove has a diverse and expanding digital
community. The festival is an excellent occasion for individuals
and organisations to broaden the audience for their work. It is
also a great opportunity to illustrate how the city has
progressed in terms of the fusion of art, community and
innovation. The activities scheduled provide a comprehensive and
inclusive Digital Festival with something for
everyone."
The Digital Festival will also host the 2005 Brighton &
Hove Web Awards, supported by Brighton and Hove's community
search engine www.p2b.net. The Web Awards provide an excellent
opportunity to highlight the most popular sites across the city
and the highly skilled people who produce them. Previously
short-listed company, Futurlab, has been responsible for the
brand and web development for the Brighton Digital
Festival.
